In a continuing bid to get the best international programming to the NCPA a tie-up with New York's prestigious Metropolitan Opera in October 2012, brings high-quality screenings of live opera playing at the MET to NCPA.
National Theatre Live is an exciting initiative to broadcast live performances of the best of British theatre to cinemas around the world. In June 2011, the NCPA collaborated with the UK's National Theatre to present theatre screenings and direct broadcasts of the latter's productions, giving theatre-goers in Mumbai, a wonderful opportunity to view great theatrical productions from the NT repertoire. For the first time in India, this collaboration between the NCPA and National Theatre Live enabled audiences in Mumbai to see what the world is watching—not on stage, but through high quality digital recordings, shot live.
Since April 2013, the NCPA in association with By Experience (New York) brought to Mumbai, the 'Exhibition' screenings, a new theatrical series of events, bringing the world's greatest art exhibitions cinema screens worldwide. 'Exhibition' features the world's foremost upcoming art exhibitions, creatively captured especially for the big screen. The 2013 edition will feature Manet, Munch and Verisse.
Founded in Beijing in 1991 by Zezhou Wu and Jiatong Wu, Wu Promotion is one of China's first performing arts promoters and event organizers. Inspired by a deep passion and dedication to music, Wu Promotion strives to enhance cultural exchange by actively promoting the performing arts and capturing the beauty and diversity of the world's culture through unique events. In February 2013, Wu Promotion brought the Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI) to Oman to perform two concerts at the Royal Opera House Muscat. Both concerts featured a Triple Concerto performed by internationally-renowned soloists Belá Fleck, Edgar Meyer and Zakir Hussain.
