The Mystical Forest

Trained as a traditional and contemporary dancer, Santosh Nair and his troupe Sadhya will present The Mystical Forest. It explores life within the forest, drawing from the dance vocabulary of Mayurbhanj chhau with strong grounded movements and contemporary interpretation. Varied experiences, activities, emotions, rituals and relationships of the inhabitants find expression in the production. Its music, choreography, movement, lighting and costumes all attempt to bring to the audiences the natural and simple life of its inhabitants, a complete world on its own, which at times is apprehensive of any outside disturbances.

Say, What?

Dance practitioner Avantika Bahl along with Vishal Sarvaiya, a certified sign language teacher will present Say, What? which focusses on the interaction between two people who slide between using and abandoning codified language. As the audience encounters various conversations, in this 55 minutes silent production, that are set in space using sign language as a point of entry, the role of gesture is re-interpreted and de-mystified within the realm of communication. By lending itself to abstract proportions, this piece opens up a world of meaning that is both embodied and visceral in nature.
