Nad Ninad: From Our Archives

Guided Listening Session on the musical artistry of Radhika Mohan Maitra

An NCPA & Tata Capital Presentation

This programme makes available to lovers of Hindustani classical music some of the NCPA’s archival recordings. This month, to mark the birth centenary of sarod maestro, Radhika Mohan Maitra (1917-1981), we will present his music, specially recorded for our archives during 1975 and 1976. Born in an aristocratic family from Bangladesh, he was trained by the legendary maestro, Mohammed Amir Khan. Besides music, Maitra was also an eminent scholar of literature, philosophy and musicology. With mastery over multiple string instruments, he came to be known as a revered guru to many, including stalwarts such as Buddhadeb Dasgupta. This session will be conducted by the maestro’s senior disciple, Narendranath Dhar with Nayan Ghosh, an eminent tabla and sitar player.

Admission on a first-come-first-served basis. NCPA Members will get preferential seating till 6.20 pm.
