NCPA honours the memory of its founder Dr. Jamshed J Bhabha with a memorial lecture series to be held on his birthday, 21st August. Every year an eminent speaker from diverse disciplines will be invited to speak on art and culture and allied fields.

The title of this series is The Jamshed Bhabha Memorial Lectures

We launch the series appropriately in the 50th year of the NCPA, with the first lecture titled “What ails the Arts in India Art?” scheduled at 7.00 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA

The speaker is Mr. Jawhar Sircar, a public intellectual, writer and speaker who has served as India’s longest-tenured Culture Secretary and was also CEO of Prasar Bharati (Akashvani & Doordarshan).

The lecture will be preceded by High Tea from 6.00 pm to 6.45 pm.

  • 6.00 pm to 6.45 pm – High Tea
  • 7.00 pm to 7.05 pm – Opening remarks & welcome to the distinguished speaker by Mr. K.N. Suntook
  • 7.05 pm to 8.00 pm – Lecture by the speaker, Mr. Jawhar Sircar
  • 8.00 pm to 8.10 pm – Q & A
  • 8.10 pm – Vote of Thanks by Ms. Shirin Bharucha, NCPA Governing Council Member
